Olive Oil of the Year in Godall and Oil Production Record (4.607 kilos)

This public acknowledgement was given to us during the first day of the recent Fair of the Oil and Asparagus, on March 10. It has been our first prize since our project started. Last year we delivered an extraordinary Virgin Extra Olive Oil from the “Picual” variety, obtained from our exploitation at La Barranquera.

Now that the the 2017-2018 Harvest has ended, we are pleased to announce you that we managed to carry some 18.667 kg of olives to the Godall Local Mill. These have produced an interesting 24,67% yield, that is: 4.607 kilos of top-quality olive oil. This is in fact the biggest production ever since we have started the Ralda+Friends project. Our record was the 2015-2016 harvest where we collected around the same amount of olives (18,66 kilo) but the productivity was lower and we produced only 3,771 kilos of olive oil.

As we told you some time ago, the harvesting of olive trees is based upon a 2-year cycle, where the first is very productive and the following is scarcer. Following this logic, we expected this year to be more productive, but that was not possible due to the severe drought we are experiencing over the last months. However, as our productivity was higher we have compensated and produced more Olive Oil this year

And, of course, the good side of this harvest is that we have wonderful quality olives, with a low acidity (0,42). Besides, these the majority of the olives were picked directly from the trees, not from the ground, meaning that we have still better flavour and properties. Once again we are happy to be able to offer you this year our wonderful 3 varieties of oils: Morruda, Extra-Virgin and D.O.P.

We are so grateful to our Cooperative of our village for the Award and we want to thank to our dear friend Victor for his wonderful work of taking care of our olive trees. We will keep on working to deserve new prizes and offer you the best Olive Oils as ever.
