This year’s first piece of news is good! It is very probable that extra virgin olive oil has become one of the trendiest gifts in the United States las Xmas season. The news was anticipated by the Interprofessional Spanish Olive Oil association at the end of December, and it took into account the efforts of three international promotion campaigns, such as Aceites de Oliva de España, Olive Oil World Tour and The Taste of Maximum Quality.
If the figures support this increase in sells, the data would represent a huge success in the international promotion of Spanish olive oils. Under the E.U. support, The Interprofessional association just launched in August a very ambitious campaign to reach millions of new consumers and countries to make them taste the different varieties of olive oils in our country.
The Interprofessional is a non-profit organization joined by all the representatives of our sector in Spain. Among these, the D.O. Baix Ebre Montsià, the region where Ralda & Friends is located.
The “Olive Oil World Tour” is planned to be active for three years and has already held major events in cities such as New York, Miami, Chicago, Los Angeles or San Francisco, as well as in numerous locations in Germany, United Kingdom, Belgium, Holland, China, Japan and Taiwan.
These events offer express tastings, culinary games and workshops for the whole family, conferences and product stories and presentations, with a lot of presence of the oil made with varieties such as Picual, Hojiblanca, Arbequina and Cornicabra.
